Question One

During the Revolutionary War, the colonists were extremely unhappy with the way the British were treating them. The colonies looked to Britain as their mother country, or a country that was supposed to take care of them. But instead of taking care of them, Britain took advantage of the colonies and made it very hard for them to live happily in their new country. Do you think that the colonists over-reacted to being ruled by the British and acted worse than how the British treated them? Explain your answer.

  1. After learning about how badly the British actually treated the colonists, I think that the colonists did everything they should have to try to get their independence. The Boston Tea Party, Boston Massacre, and other instances of uprisings in the colonies really made the British think about how they were treating the colonists, but did not make them change. Eventually, this all lead to war, which lead to many casualties but the freeing of our country. I think that everything that the colonists did was for the greater good and exactly what they needed to do to make sure the British would leave the colonists to themselves.
